Back to blogging!

I must apologise for the lack of blogs over the last few months. The reason for this is that I have been busy in my other role as administrator for the family farm as we have been setting up a new dairy.

For those of you that don't know I live on the family dairy farm in North Devon and we have been setting up a new dairy with facilities for robotic milking, this means that I have been busy with my other role and also helping out on the farm so haven't made time to blog.

It's very interesting what we have done, our milking is now controlled by technology so in some respects there is a crossover between the computing business and the farm as computers are involved for both businesses! It's fascinating to watch the cows go in and out of the robot and be milked automatically. You can also look at the computer and see when a cow has been milked plus how much they are giving. There is also a multitude of other data that can be found, but to be honest I don't understand it all!

The picture above shows the robot just after it had arrived here on the farm, it's now in use 24 hours a day.
